ObjectiveTo investigate the efficacy of phytoestrogens combined with mifepristone in the treatment of patients with uterine leiomyoma (UL) complicated with iron deficiency anemia (IDA). MethodsA total of 70 patients with UL complicated with IDA were randomly divided into study group and control group, with 35 cases in each group. Both the two groups were given the treatment of anemia, on the basis of anemia-correction, the control group was treated with mifepristone, while the study group was treated with mifepristone combined with phytoestrogens. The levels of hemoglobin,UL volume, serum sex hormones, nitric oxide synthase (NOS), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) were compared between two groups before and after treatment. ResultsThe levels of hemoglobin increased significantly while the UL volume decreased significantly in two groups after treatment in contrast with those before treatment (P<0.01) , and the levels of hemoglobin in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the UL volume was significantly less than that in the control group (P<0.05); after treatment, the levels of serum sex hormones, NOS and TNF-α in the two groups significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the decreased in the study group was more significant (P<0.05 or P<0.05).No significant difference of adverse reaction was found between the two groups (P>0.05). ConclusionsPhytoestrogens combined with mifepristone in the treatment of patients with UL complicated with IDA has significant curative effect ,and can effectively reduce the UL volume, improve the levels of serum hormone,NOS and TNF-α, which is safety and worthy of promotion and application in clinical.
