ObjectiveTo investigate the application of ultrasound histogram quantitative determination in evaluating the effect of Chinese medicine on alcoholic fatty liver (AFLD). MethodsA total of 60 patients diagnosed as alcoholic fatty liver (phlegm-blood stasis) were randomly divided into Chinese medicine group and western medicine group with 30 cases in each. Another 30 healthy people were involved in healthy control group. Patients in Chinese medicine group were treated with Chinese herbal medicine with an effect of invigorating spleen to resolve turbidity and promoting qi to remove stasis, while those in western medicine group were treated by vitamin B1, B 2, B 6, and folic acid. Ultrasound histogram gray-scale value A in the interest region of liver and serum markers (AST, ALT, AST / ALT, and GGT) in two groups before and after treatment were observed and compared with the healthy control group. Resultsthere was no significant difference in parameters between Chinese medicine group and western medicine group before the treatment(P>0.05). Compared with the healthy control group, parameters in both groups have significant difference (P<0.05). After twelve-week treatment, ultrasound histogram gray-scale value A, AST, and GGT in Chinese medicine group and ultrasound histogram gray-scale value A in western medicine group were lower than those before treatment, (P<0.05), moreover, ultrasound histogram gray-scale value A and GGT in Chinese medicine group were lower than those in western medicine group (P<0.05). ConclusionThere is a good consistency between the quantitative determination of ultrasound histogram and the serum markers in the effect of Chinese medicine on AFLD.
