ObjectiveTo investigate the cytological characteristics of peripheral blood in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). MethodsA total of 278 AIDS patients were enrolled, the datas of peripheral blood routine examination and CD4+ T lymphocyte counting were analyzed retrospectively. ResultsIn this group of cases, the rate of incidence of anemia, number of CD4+ T lymphocyte <200/μL, aleucocytosis, thrombocytopenia and eocylosis were 90.2%, 84.5%, 41.0%, 38.4% and 10.0%, respectively. Among the anemia patients, 40.0% were positive cell anemia, 32.6% were type of indefinite. ConclusionsAnemia and decreased number of CD4+ T lymphocytoponia are important cytological features of peripheral blood in AIDS patients, often accompanied by leukocytopenia and thrombocytopenia, the anemia type in AIDS patients is largely showed as cell anemia.
