Objective To analyze the current status and influencing factors of hypoproteinemia in elderly patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Methods A total of 207 elderly patients with CHF were selected as the study subjects and divided into the hypoproteinemia group (n=58) or the non-hypoproteinemia group (n=149) according to their serum total protein levels within 24 hours of admission. The general and clinical data of the two groups were compared, and the logistic regression model was used to analyze influencing factors of hypoproteinemia in elderly patients with CHF. Results The incidence of hypoproteinemia in elderly patients with CHF was 28.02%. The results of logistic regression model analysis showed that the presence of primary coronary heart disease (OR=3.292), serum albumin level < 35 g/L (OR=7.597), and serum calcium level <2 mmol/L (OR=9.603) were risk factors of hypoproteinemia in elderly patients with CHF (all P<0.05). Conclusion Elderly patients with CHF are usually complicated with hypoproteinemia, and primary coronary heart disease, low serum albumin and calcium levels are risk factors of hypoproteinemia in elderly CHF patients.
