ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of Lacidipine in the treatment of isolated systolic hypertension in the elderly.Methods60 patients with isolated systolic hypertension were randomly selected and treated with 2-8 mg/d of oral Lacidipine for 8 weeks. The changes of blood pressure were record with 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) before and after treatment.ResultsABPM presented that the average systolic blood pressure decreased significantly both day and night after treatment, but heart rate has no distinct changes. Both the ratio of peak systolic and diastolic blood pressure were >50%.ConclusionLacidipine could reduce isolated systolic hypertension in the elderly and is efficient and safe.
