ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical efficacy of Xuesaitong combined with calcium dobesilate capsules in the treatment of senile macular degeneration and its effects on hemorheology and superoxide dismutase (SOD) level. MethodsA total of 86 patients with senile macular degeneration admitted to our hospital from October 2016 to August 2018 were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to the random number method, with 43 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were administered calcium dobesilate capsules and the observation group with calcium dobesilate capsules combined with Xuesaitong, for three-month treatment courses. The clinical efficacy, hemorheological indexes and SOD level between the two groups were compared. ResultsAfter 3 months of treatment, the total effective rate of treatment in the observation group (97.7%) was significantly higher than that in the control group (81.4%), and the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). The levels of low shear viscosity of whole blood, moderate shear viscosity of whole blood, high shear viscosity of whole blood, and plasma viscosity of the two groups significantly decreased. The levels of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). SOD level in the two groups increased significantly, and the level in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P＜0.05). ConclusionThe clinical efficacy of Xuesaitong combined with calcium dobesilate capsules in treating senile macular degeneration is prominent. It can effectively improve the hemorheological indexes, and increase the antioxidant capacity of patients.
