ObjectiveTo explore the effect of Chinese medical fumigation and steaming combined with massage on pain and lumbar function in patients with lumbar disc herniation. MethodsA total of 78 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted to our hospital from August 2017 to August 2019 were selected, and they were divided into two groups according to the random number method, with 39 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional rehabilitation treatment, based on which the observation group was given traditional Chinese medical fumigation and steaming combined with massage treatment. The course of treatment was 14 days. The pain scores, lumbar function scores and activities of daily living scores before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. ResultsBefore intervention, there were no statistically significant differences in pain scores, lumbar function scores, and activities of daily living scores between the two groups (P＜0.05). After 14 days of intervention, the patients in the observation group obtained lower scores of pain, activities of daily living, whereas a higher score of lumbar function as compared with the control group, with statistically significant differences (P＜0.05). ConclusionChinese medical fumigation and steaming combined with massage can relieve the pain of patients with lumbar disc herniation, accelerate the recovery of lumbar function, and improve the abilities of daily life activities, which is worthy of promotion and application.
