ObjectiveTo explore the clinical effect of lactulose combined with bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets in the treatment of chronic functional constipation in the elderly, and to provide references for clinical treatment. MethodA total of 100 elderly patients with chronic functional constipation who were treated in the Outpatient Clinic of our hospital from May 2019 to May 2020 were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into two groups by the random number method, with 50 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated with lactulose, and the patients in the study group were treated with lactulose combined with bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets, for a one-month treatment course. The clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups. The changes of anorectal sensation before and after treatment and the occurrence of adverse reactions were also compared between the two groups. ResultsThe total effective rate of treatment in the study group (96.0%) was higher than that in the control group (70.0%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the anorectal sensation before treatment between the two groups (P>0.05). After 1 month of treatment, the lowest sensitivity, maximum tolerated dose, and rectal compliance level of rectum significantly decreased in both groups, and the levels in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups during the treatment period (P>0.05). ConclusionThe treatment of lactulose combined with bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets can significantly improve the clinical therapeutic effect of elderly patients with chronic functional constipation, improve anorectal sensation, and relieve clinical symptoms, which is worthy of promotion.
