Modified Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation in the treatment of patients with stage I shoulder-hand syndrome after cerebral stroke: an analysis of the clinical effect
ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effect of modified Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) in the treatment of patients with stage I shoulder-hand syndrome after cerebral stroke. MethodsA total of 90 patients with stage I shoulder-hand syndrome after cerebral stroke who were hospitalized in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2019 were selected, and they were divided into two groups by the random number method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with PNF, whereas the observation group was treated with PNF combined with modified Buyang Huanwu decoction, for a fourteen-day treatment course. The clinical efficacy, neurological function, upper limb motor function, hemorheology changes and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. ResultsAfter 14 days of treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group (95.6%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (60.0%), with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the observation group yielded a higher FMA score, whereas lower whole blood low- and high-shear viscosity, hematocrit and plasma viscosity, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). During the treatment, there were no obvious adverse reactions in both groups. ConclusionModified Buyang Huanwu decoction combined with PNF for treatment can significantly improve the upper limb motor function and hemorheology of patients with stage I shoulder-hand syndrome after cerebral stroke, improve the clinical therapeutic effect, which has a good treatment safety.
