ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of coffee acid on parameters and aggregation of platelet in patients with uremic bleeding. Methods24 cases with thrombocytopenia (platelet count <100×109/L) due do chronic renal failure (uremia) were randomly and equally divided into observation group and control group. Coffee acid (0.2 g) was used orally in the observation group,3 times a day, while regular hemostatics, including vitamin k and thrombin, were employed in the control group. All the treatments last for four weeks. The parameters and aggregation of the platelet were tested before the treatment and every week after the treatment started. ResultsAfter four-week treatments, the platelet aggregation rate, platelet count (PLT),mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) in the observation group were significantly higher than those before the treatment (P<0.05) and those in the control group (P<0.01). ConclusionCaffeic acid can improve the platelet aggregation in uremic patients with thrombocytopenia, having a good curative effect on uremic bleeding.
